Monday, September 2, 1963: 'CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite'
CBS becomes the first U.S. network with a half-hour nightly news show, as its broadcast with Walter Cronkite expands from 15 minutes. (NBC would follow suit a week later.) The first show includes segments from Cronkite's interview with President Kennedy that day. Photo of Cronkite and Kennedy in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, from JFK Library. * Portions of telecast: @
